A staple of the Bristol nightlife, Alfresco Disco take unusual locations and transforms them into party locations on an industrial scale.
For their most recent party Re-Production were called on to help plan and deliverthe technical production on the night “the underground”.
Commandeering a loading bay of a Bristol shopping centre we were tasked with going from Argos deliveries to delivering crystal clear audio in just 6 hours. The 2500 capacity event had two DJ stages running from 9pm to 6am. Our funktion one system did not miss a beat.
The first hurdle with the venue was putting in the venue infrastructure usually expected in venues of this size. Luckily Re-Productions in house team were able to install structures to support the staging, lighting and audio quickly and safely.
With accurate structural renders of the venue, we ensured that every department knew exactly what was going where.
The loading bay was a unique acoustic challenge. The main room was 15m wide with adesired throw of 50m, our flagship funktion one Evo System with its hiredirectivity managed to keep the sound off the reverberant walls and ceilingkeeping the audio crystal clear right to the back of the room.
Coupled with the incredibly powerful F124 the bass was felt right to the back of theroom.
With the room widening near the stage we provided out fills and I’ll fills you makesure that everyone in the room was dancing.
As the only separation between the two stages was distance it was important that bleed between the two stage was minimal.
To do this we provided a large tannoy VQ system that would have more than enoughheadroom to hit the back of the dance floor 25m away.
We also designed a cardiod infra sun array, this allowed the stage 2 system tohave enough headroom in the sub frequencies to cancel out the enormous amountscoming from the main stage less than 100m away.
Not only was the audio quality imperative for the audience but the DJs must also have the same high quality audio for monitoring. This came in the way of our Martin audio le100 and le200 wedges coupled with the BR118 for a very beefy DJmonitor
Re-Production were proud to collaborate with Lighthaus studio in designing a lighting installation for the main room.
Parallel lasers with beams placed into the room have an industrial vibe that did not detract from the industrial setting.
Lights were placed throughout the room for an immersive and surrounding show.
The lighting design was visualised before and used our structural models to fit inperfectly with the rest of the production.
Through the use of our 3D renders and pre show visualisationwe were able to program the light show before we arrived, saving crucial timeon set up.
